Sharon has also guested for many other bands in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire
and Leicestershire.
Sharon was also the principal cornet of the Nottingham Concert
Band when they won the Concert Band World Championships in
Vienna in 1981.
During this time, Sharon has played for many of the finest
conductors, including Lt.-Col. George Evans of Kneller Hall,
Major Peter Parkes,
Major Ian McElligott, David James, John Hudson, Andrew Duncan,
Melvin White,
Martin Heartfield and Stan Lippeart

Sharon has enjoyed
unprecedented success with Long Eaton, taking the band from the bottom
of the fourth section to two successive national finals and promotion
to the second section, winning numerous prizes during
this time.
BIG/DANCE BANDS
Sharon started playing in dance bands at the age of 32 once
she had passed her driving test! Her first dance band was
her friend

followed by Ockbrook Big Band (where Sid Bland played)
before forming her own
dance band Anything Blows
ORCHESTRAS
Sharon has played with the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra,
the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra and the Derby
Concert Orchestra,
where she
played in a concert with Nigel Kennedy (and still has
the programme to prove it!)
Sharon has also played with Nottingham Brass Quintet
and with various pit orchestras whilst performing shows.
VENUES
I have played in lots of prestigious venues including RAH,Royal Festival hall London, St James Park, South Bank, Wembley Arena, Birmingham NEC, Cardiff ??,
Manchester free trade hall. Hammersmith town hall. The Musicverein in Vienna, the Albert hall in Nottingham and also on the opening of the royal concert centre in Nottm.Derby and Nottm playhouses, Derby assembly rooms De Mont ford hall Caird Hall Dundee and the Riviera Centre in Torquay etc etc
I have also played along a canal tow path for a “duck race” and on the back of a lorry! So all in all the whole spectrum of venues!
