DID YOU KNOW??
I started playing when I was 9 and my brother Carl was 8. We shared a cornet for the first 6 weeks
Sid Bland was my first teacher then Ted Bradley
I was also taught at school from age 12 by Ken Henton son of Tommy Henton who played in LE in 1927 when they won the Crystal Palace contest although we didn’t know at the time! (He also conducted LESPB)
We were also taught at school by Jack Mather who conducted Newark town band and who used to play at Ransomes Band
I ended up playing for Ransomes many years later.
I was the first girl who played for Ransomes and the first lady conductor of Long Eaton.
I also do my own compering at concerts and my jokes are famous (or should that be infamous)
